Atop a coastal salt dome on Lake Peigneur, Rip Van Winkle Gardens is 20 acres surrounding the Joseph Jefferson Home, built in 1870 by acclaimed American actor Joseph Jefferson and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

From New Orleans, LA take I-10 West to Baton Rouge. In Baton Rouge take I-10 South to Lafayette. Take I-49 South/US-90 East towards New Iberia, LA. Turn right at Hwy 675 towards Jefferson Island and Delcambre, LA. Follow this road to the Jefferson Island sign and turn right into Rip Van Winkle Gardens.

From Baton Rouge:
From Baton Rouge, LA take I-10 South to Lafayette. Take I-49 South/US-90 East towards New Iberia, LA. Turn right at Hwy 675 towards Jefferson Island and Delcambre, LA. Follow this road to the Jefferson Island sign and turn right into Rip Van Winkle Gardens.

From Lafayette, LA take I-49 South/US-90 East towards New Iberia, LA. Turn right at Hwy 675 towards Jefferson Island and Delcambre, LA. Follow this road to the Jefferson Island sign and turn right into Rip Van Winkle Gardens.

Admission and Hours:
Tours are on the hour seven days a week starting at 9:00am. The last tour starts at 4:00pm. General admission is $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for children and senior citizens (children under 8 are admitted free). Group rates (20 or more people) are $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for children and senior citizens.
